A lot of people in manufacturing hear about conveyor belts and timing belts, but the difference isn’t always clear. Let’s break it down in simple terms.
Think of a conveyor belt as the mover. It’s a workhorse that carries things—like boxes, raw materials, or packaged goods—from point A to point B. You see them in assembly lines, airports, and warehouses.
A timing belt, on the other hand, is all about precision and synchronization. Its main job is to make sure two or more parts of a machine, like the camshaft and crankshaft in a car engine, turn together in perfect time. Its teeth fit into grooves on pulleys to prevent any slipping.
So, the simple rule is: use a conveyor belt to move stuff, and use a timing belt when you need exact, synchronized movement. At Victech, we make both types of belts and are happy to help you pick the right one for your job.
